In 1498 Niccolo Machiavelli began his career as an active politician in the city state of Florence Italy. After almost a decade of service he was driven from his post when the republic fell. Repeated efforts to win the the confidence and approval of the new regime were unsuccessful. Machiavelli was forced to retire.

Niccolò Machiavelli is a Italian philosopher and write. He observed politics made decisions on what he observed. His most famous book is called "The Prince". It was about how people can keep their power over people and land. He is known as the founder of political science.
